Stimulus Protocols

Stims – use the stimulus drop-down menu to select the stimulus you wish to preview or record, or to execute one of the various functions defined below.

Preview – preview the currently selected stimulus. Acquired data will over-write the first data wave (e.g. RecordA0).

Record – record the currently selected stimulus. Acquired data will be saved as waves numbered from zero (e.g. RecordA0, RecordA1, RecordA2...) in the current NeuroMatic data folder.

Note – make a note before recording. See Notes / Log.

Stimulus Functions

New – create a new stimulus folder with default settings.

Open – open a previously saved stimulus file from disk.

Open All – open all stimulus files that reside in the same folder on disk.

Save – save the currently selected stimulus folder to disk. If the stimulus folder has already been saved, this option will simply update the existing file without a user prompt. For Igor 4 users, folders will be saved as NeuroMatic binary files with extension “nmb”. For Igor 5 and 6 users, folders will be saved as Igor binary files with extension “pxp”.

Save As – same as “Save”, but will prompt for a new file name.

Save All – save all stimulus folders to disk.

Close – close the currently selected stimulus folder.

Close All – call all stimulus folders.

Copy – make a copy of the currently selected stimulus folder. You will be prompted for a new stimulus name.

Rename – rename the currently selected stimulus folder.

Retrieve – retrieve a stimulus folder from the current NeuroMatic data folder.

Set Stim Path – set the directory on your disk where stimulus files are opened / saved on disk.

Set Stim List – when NeuroMatic first initializes its global variables after starting Igor, it will attempt to load the stimulus files that are listed in the global string OpenStimList. The directory of these stimulus files must be saved in the global string StimPath. You can set OpenStimList using the stimulus drop-down menu, or via NeuroMatic > Configs > Edit > Clamp. Do not include the file extension in your list of names.

Stimulus Folders

All waves and variables associated with a stimulus protocol are saved in an Igor data folder. This folder has the same name as the stimulus and resides in the Stims Folder. After selecting Record, a copy of the current stimulus folder is placed in the current NeuroMatic data folder where your data will be saved. Hence, stimulus folders are saved along with your data files. Saved stimulus folders can then be retrieved using the “Retrieve” menu option defined below, or NeuroMatic’s stim folder functions (NeuroMatic > Stim Folder). Stimulus variables are edited with the Stim Misc, Stim Time, Stim Board and Stim Pulse tabs.
